The 3D printed bus stop is a structure that creates a shaded area and provides seating for Ajman public transport users. The main architectural feature is an iconic vertical 3D printed element on one side of the structure that takes advantage of the ability of 3DP technology to produce complex shapes, as it is an inverted cone shape that flows downwards from the roof, with openings of different sizes and with a small area of contact at the bottom to create a feeling of lightness in contrast to the actual weight of the item.
The 3D printed work is complemented by an element that supports the iconic feature and the actual seat bench, both displaying some features on the sides that can be customised. The finishing is intended to show the production process and at the same time resembles a natural stone. The top surface of the bench is polished for user comfort. The structure is complemented by round metal columns and a composite lightweight roof.
