MFC Cargo Container Concepts was tasked with a design and build project for a new Zipline Welcome Centre by Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) in the Jebel Jais mountain. Due to the environmental sensitivity of the area, and in order to minimise any adverse impacts on existing land, it was decided to use eight upcycled shipping containers for the build.
The building was prefabricated in a factory and installed on site within a record time of three months. Key aspects of this building include its unique cantilevered first floor, an open deck for patrons to soak in the beauty of the surrounding mountain ranges and most importantly, because RAKTDA is planning several dynamic and sustainable projects in Jebel Jais, the building was designed to be split into individual containers so that it can be relocated to another site with minimum cost and time impact.
The project is in line with RAKTDA’s vision to create the future of its tourism on a strong principle of mutual respect for environment and sustainability. We take pride in being a part of this unique journey by playing a vital role in delivering such infrastructure.
