As a hospitality project, the client’s main objective was to achieve the highest quality standards in execution. Since toilets are some of the most problematic areas in construction, an offsite solution was selected to tackle the scope.
Taking the toilets offsite ensured that activities were done in a factory environment, including manufacturing and testing (leakage, power, pressure, etc) maintaining highest quality measures. Engineering plays a big role in off-site construction, accordingly DuPod was involved at an early stage supporting the main contractor in the design development via the cloud-based solution BIM360.
BIM360 allowed for the coordination between all stakeholders, enhancing transparency and accuracy and minimising clashes on site.
The integration of BIM in DuPod’s engineering process made it easier to deploy principles of Design for Manufacturing & Assembly, consequently resulting in an improvement of Supply Chain Vertical Integration & Co-Manufacturing with DuPod’s manufacturing partners. All these benefits were directly transferred to the project owner and led to a reduction of project duration while maintaining a high level of quality.
