Eighteen months ago, Ramboll set out to recruit a Head of Digital Design to spearhead digital transformation. The ideal candidate would have a thorough understanding of BIM and proven experience. Gerry McFadden fit the profile and joined in November 2020.
Gerry has over 20 years’ experience in the region while delivering BIM projects since 2009. He led BIM delivery on many iconic projects in the region. Since joining, Gerry has worked tirelessly to embed digital design as the standard way of working. The initial focus was to demonstrate the business benefits that a fully digital process can achieve.
The emphasis has shifted from the delivery of 2D drawings from Revit to the creation of data-rich models which represent the ‘single source of truth’. Under Gerry’s leadership, there has been a shift to working in the cloud. Gerry has implemented tools that allow stakeholders to collaborate instantly regardless of global location. This approach has been critical recently during the Covid-19 pandemic. Gerry also continuously champions the digital delivery process externally and has contributed several articles in the local trade press over the past 12 months.
