Dr Ghanim Kashwani, an Academic Researcher in Civil Engineering at the New York University Abu Dhabi, speaks to DC Hub about the importance of ensuring construction materials are sustainable and fit for purpose in the region
Academia has developed strong ties with the construction industry, particularly in research areas such as materials. Hand-in-hand with the increased importance of reducing carbon emissions and integrating future construction technologies is also the need for more commercially available sustainable materials.
In his role as an Academic Researcher in Civil Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), Dr Ghanim Kashwani is not just looking at opportunities such as additives to concrete, but also testing that materials used in construction are durable and fit for purpose in the region’s climate, particularly as summer temperatures and humidity are high.
