The metaverse is attracting hype, including its use in the construction industry. Here Wassim Haroun, Re-founder and CEO, Conser explains how it can be used to reduce communication problems.
Speaking at the Construction Technology Festival 2022, he outlined how the metaverse can be used for improved communications and visualisations. The metaverse can “alleviate” communication problems, he said.
Conser is developing a tool called Meta Meetn’ that will let the construction sector meet virtually, plan projects and monitor progress using reality capture which is then displayed within the model. Haroun said Conser has been using a prototype version to monitor its projects underway in various countries, “with a one-day delay and I can visit it in my VR room”. He added: “I don’t have to travel anymore [and] I can look up under a bridge.”
The tool will help minimise “open ended discussions in construction meetings” and reduce the risk of miscommunication or deviations because everyone attending in the room can see, discuss and walk people through a design.
