At the recent Construction Technology ConFex 2024 held in the UAE, industry leaders gathered to explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the construction sector. Among the standout sessions was a compelling presentation titled “Client Perspective on AI – Cost Earned Claims Validation and Time,” delivered by Faik Haddadin, Senior Projects Director at Emaar.

Faik discussed the significant benefits of integrating AI technology from a client’s perspective. This integration with project baseline and BIM modules enables precise monitoring of Cost Earned Value (EV) through real-time site feedback, controlling design deviations and their impact on cost and time. It enhances claim validation and verification, fostering transparency among the client, contractor, and consultant. This approach provides a robust tool for managing claims and deviations, ensuring project success and transparency.

Faik Haddadin’s presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the benefits AI brings to construction from a client’s perspective. Highlighting Emaar’s innovative approach, he shared how integrating AI with project baselines and Building Information Modeling (BIM) modules enables precise monitoring of Cost Earned Value (EV) through real-time site feedback. This integration not only controls design deviations and their impact on cost and time but also enhances claim validation and verification, fostering greater transparency among clients, contractors, and consultants.

One of the key case studies discussed was the Tregis project, a large-scale mixed-use development with twin towers. Faik detailed how selecting a contractor who believes in innovation and AI allowed Emaar to integrate AI solutions seamlessly with the project’s BIM model and resource-loaded baseline. This integration provided the client with real-time visibility and control, demonstrating the potential for AI to revolutionize construction project management.

The presentation underscored several significant benefits for clients, including:

  • 24/7 access to project data and progress
  • Ability to monitor activities, deviations, and cash flow in real-time
  • Improved claim validation and dispute resolution
  • Accurate as-built documentation for handover

Faik concluded by emphasizing that the successful implementation of AI on the Tregis project would pave the way for deploying a structured AI solution across all of Emaar’s master plan projects. This vision aims to establish a new standard for AI-driven construction project management, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and timely project delivery.
